Turbo-coded CDMA-based Two-way Relaying

چکیده
In this contribution, we have studied the performance of a Turbo-Coded (TC) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) based two-way relaying scheme. More explicitly, we employ a seven-user CDMA model, where two of the CDMA users are communicating with each other with the aid of an additional relay node, while the other five CDMA users are interferers. More explicitly, two CDMA users exchange their information frames within two timeslots. Note that the conventional one-way relaying system can only transmit one information frame within two timeslots because the relay node is half-duplex, where it cannot listen and transmit simultaneously. We found that our proposed TC-CDMA two-way relaying scheme is capable of attaining over 4 dB of SNR gain at a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10−6 when compared to a conventional non-cooperative TC-CDMA system. We also found that there is about two dB of SNR loss at a BER of 10−6, due to the error propagation from the relay node. The proposed scheme exploits the benefits of TC and CDMA schemes in order to assist the two-way relaying system to operate with a reduced transmit power. The reduction of the transmit power can also be exploited for increasing the coverage area of a cellular cell. Hence, the TC-CDMA two-way relaying scheme is a good candidate for future generation mobile systems.

Performance Bound for Turbo-Coded 2-D FSO/CDMA Systems over Atmospheric Turbulence Channels
We propose turbo-coded two-dimensional (2D) free-space optical (FSO) CDMA systems for broadband access networks. The performance bound for the proposed system over atmospheric turbulence channels is obtained considering multiple-access interference (MAI) and receiver noise. The results show that the proposed system offers a better performance than that of previously proposed ones. Also, it has ...
متن کامل3.3 Turbo-Coded ARQ Schemes for DS-CDMA Data Networks over Fading and Shadowing Channels
In this paper modified ARQ (automaticrepeat-request) techniques based on turbo coding are investigated for asynchronous DS-CDMA (directsequence code-division multiple-access) data networks under shadowing and frequency selective fading channel conditions. The throughput, delay, and energy efficiency performance of standard ARQ, metric combining, and RCPT (rate compatible punctured turbo) coded ...
متن کاملEvaluating the performance of turbo codes and turbo-coded modulation in a DS-CDMA environment
Recently, turbo codes have received great attention due to their outstanding performance. Unfortunately, a high performance is associated with large transmission delays prohibiting an application for speech transmission. Hence, the aim of this paper is the comparison of turbo codes employing short interleavers with convolutional codes in terms of bit error rate performance and computational eff...
متن کاملIterative Multiuser Detection for Turbo Coded Synchronous CDMA inGaussian and Non - Gaussian Impulsive
| In this paper, we develop an iterative multiuser receiver for decoding Turbo coded synchronous CDMA signals in both Gaussian and non-Gaussian noise. A soft-input soft-output non-linear multiuser detector is combined with a set of single user channel decoders in an iterative detec-tion/decoding structure. The non-linear multiuser detector utilizes the prior probabilities of each user's bits to...
